Previously, Scherzinger was part of reality TV girlgroup Eden’s Crush and despite minor chart successes she left due to being unhappy. She then joined the Pussycat Dolls when they were a burlesque troop before taking the role of lead singer when the group became a recording group. So far the Pussycat Dolls have released two successful albums PCD and Doll Domination with two supporting tours. In between the two albums Scherzinger made her first attempt at a solo album (Her Name is Nicole) which proved unsuccessful.

Currently the Pussycat Dolls are taking a break whilst recording their third studio album. Each member is pursuing their own projects. Kimberly Wyatt works on several UK TV projects as well as recording solo album material. Melody Thornton works with several different things, including a cameo appearance in the music video “Slow Dance” for American R&B singer-songwriter Keri Hilson. Scherzinger has resumed work on her delayed debut solo album which is being reworked from the scratch.

After commercial flops with local producers on her first two albums, and little-known outside Colombia, Shakira decided to produce her own brand of music. In 1995 she released Pies Descalzos, which brought her great fame in Latin America and Spain, and her 1998 album ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? was a critical success. Since then she has gained many fans in semi-Hispanophone countries, especially the United States, and many non-Spanish-speaking countries. In 2001, and aided by heavy promotion of the music video, “Whenever, Wherever”, she broke through into the English-speaking world with the release of Laundry Service, which sold over thirteen million copies worldwide. Four years later, Shakira released two album projects called Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2. Both reinforced her success, particularly with the most successful song in the 21st century to date, “Hips Don’t Lie”. From October-November 2009 Shakira released her latest album She Wolf worldwide.

She has won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, and has been Golden Globe-nominated. She is also the highest-selling Colombian artist of all time, and the second most successful female Latin singer having sold over 50 million albums worldwide, according to BMI. Additionally, she is the only artist from South America to reach the number-one spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the Australian ARIA chart, and the UK Singles Chart.

The band’s debut album Volume I was released in December 2008 and reached gold status in Germany.It produced the two singles “No Smoke” and “I Can’t Stop Feeling,” both becoming top thirty successes on the charts. In February 2008, Queensberry served as the opening act for the Pussycat Doll’s World Domination Tour in selected European countries. In November 2009, the second studio album “On My Own” was released.
